The Uros Floating Islands, is a small community that has lived on these reed Islands for decades. Centuries ago the small indigenous Uros tribe conceived of the islands as a way to isolate and protect themselves from rival tribes, the Collas and the Incas. The Uros people harvested the reeds in the shallows of the lake, bundled them together tightly and built floating island platforms complete with reed houses and canoes, creating in this way their own little world. Our tour to the Uros Floating Islands starts early in the morning, at 09:00 h. Our clients are collected from their hotels and then transferred down to the harboar. At the harboar we will abord a motorized boat that will take us to the trbes of the Uros people. The boat ride last roughly 30 minutes and offers fine views of the Lake Titicaca, as well as from the surrounding mountains. Upon our arrival in one of the Islands, our group we wil be welcomed by a group of islanders, who afterwards will show us around. Our guide will explain important aspects from the live of these people and afterwards you will go for a ride in a small reed boat made by the Uros people. The reed boat will take you from one island to another, so that you may meet other people from another islands. The distance from one another are not long.
